He wanted to charge me several hundred dollars plus my time for making an appointment. Central Vacs Unlimited is a family-owned business which was started in 1974 and has been under the current ownership since 1997. We are one of the largest dealers of central vacuums and intercoms in the mid-Atlantic area. To accommodate our growth, in 2007 we moved to a new 7,000 square foot facility that includes a large show room, repair shop, offices and warehouse. The showroom is stocked with many of our products enabling customers to "test drive" them before they are installed.
There are several factors that set us apart from others in our industry:

- We do not subcontract our work. Our own employees do the installations and make service calls.
- We are not aligned with a single manufacturer like many other companies. In fact, we offer more brands and product choices than virtually any other company. This enables us to provide products which meet the exact needs of our customers.
- Free estimates are provided on installation of new systems.
- We are one of the few companies that install central vacuums and intercoms in existing construction. We pride ourselves on completing these installations generally in one day with no drywall damage and no mess.
- For new construction, we offer to review locations of vacuum inlets and intercom speakers with the customer before installation and after installation, demonstrate the systems and review maintenance.
- On service work, we do our utmost to repair the equipment and replace with new only if it's not economically feasible or the customer requests. Backed by a large parts inventory, our technicians generally repair systems on the first call.
- We offer free technical support over the phone. Often, we help customers troubleshoot and repair systems on their own.
- We take care of any warranty issues on all of the systems that we install.
- All major credit cards are accepted. Extended payment terms are available upon approval.
- Our courteous staff is available six days a week to greet our customers at the store or answer the phone.
